LorissA Rinehart
Lorissa Rinehart is an author, cultural producer, and public speaker.
Her writing explores women’s history, politics, war, and their points of intersection. Her debut book, First to the Front: The Untold Story of Dickey Chapelle, Trailblazing Female War Correspondent (St. Martin’s Press) has received rave reviews from The Wall Street Journal, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Publishers Weekly, among numerous other publications.
She is a TEDx speaker who has appeared at the National Press Club, Friends of the National World War II Memorial, the Women's National Press Club , and the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation among other prestigious organizations. She has also been featured on numerous podcasts including Cold War Conversations, Writers Talking, HerStory on the Rocks, and More Than A Muse.
She has organized art shows at venues including the Queens Museum, the Clocktower Gallery, and the Armory. Her cultural criticism has recently appeared in Hyperallergic, Perfect Strangers, and Narratively, among other publications.
When not writing she can be found photographing the natural world impinging upon the urban landscape or digging in the dirt with her husband and two sons in Santa Barbara, California.
She holds an MA from NYU in Experimental Humanities and a BA in Literature from UC Santa Cruz. She is proudly represented by Lowenstein Associates.
